Finding Your Work-Life Balance
At the TEDxSydney conference in 2010, Nigel Marsh spoke on the importance of creating a successful work-life balance. We all know that long hours and irregular schedules can make maintaining that balance stressful for many nurses, but learning to balance your professional career and your personal life directly out of nursing school will prove immensely rewarding throughout your career. As Marsh says, learning to do this is something you have to master on your own: “It’s up to us as individuals to take control and responsibility for the types of lives that we want to lead. If you don’t design your life, someone else will design it for you—and you may just not like their idea of balance.”
