House Bill 50, a bill that would limit overtime hours for nurses, was heard by lawmakers on Tuesday.
The bill is in response to nurses who have stated that the current system is causing burnout. They feel the unnecessarily long shifts are compromising their own health as well as their patients’ health.
Hospitals and clinics fear the measure will limit their options and in some cases will result in their facilities being shut down.

Geeeeze…this one should be a ‘no brainer’….
It’s one thing for professional nurses to work overtime hours on a *voluntary* basis (with proper compensation) – it’s quite another issue to be mandated to work overtime. What is this mandatory stuff??? Somehow, the word “slaves” comes to mind. And, we’ve allowed this – why?????
