This is the unexpected phrase that new nurse grads are facing this year as the recession continues to close the gap in the nursing shortage.
According to the article, ‘Recession Temporarily Eases Nursing Shortage,’ nurses are dealing with the shortage – of jobs, that is – in several ways:
- Moving out of state where jobs are more plentiful
- Seeking jobs outside of healthcare whilst the economy rebounds
- Settling for lower-paying positions at nursing homes, community clinics, home-health agencies and prisons
