It’s a new year!
Christmas has come and gone. All that work and it is over so quickly. This is usually quite a depressing time of year for me, but this time it is different. Another year has passed us by and for me that is good news! Well, good news because it means I am one step closer to finishing up nursing school. I am so excited for my future career as a nurse. The possibilities are endless! I am starting to feel like I am achieving my goal and that light at the end of the tunnel is visible. I think it may really happen! Before it does happen, there are a few things I would like to do to start off the new year right.
A Healthier Me!
I think it is so important for a nurse to practice what they preach. Easier said than done, right? With the new year everyone has high hopes of weight loss goals and eating healthier. I have decided to hold myself accountable for my health and weight. I am currently about 15 lbs overweight and have not regularly exercised in quite a while. I have decided to take 2 fitness classes at school that require you to work out at least 3 days a week at the University. My entire grade is based on this, so there is no room for failure! I am hoping this gives me the jumpstart I need to shed off the winter pounds.
Bigger Focus on Family
I do consider myself very family oriented and a pretty decent mother, but there is always room for improvement! It is so easy to put things aside and procrastinate when you are a nursing student. My focus is to plan more family fun time and outings. I also really want to take more pictures of my family and have more pictures of me with my kids! Did you ever notice there are not a lot of pictures of yourself with your kids? If your like me, then it is because your the one behind the camera!
Doing More For Others
Where do I start? Visit my grandmother more frequently, getting more involved at church, or just calling my friends on a regular basis. I am such a bad phone friend! There is so much I can do for others.
No matter what the goal or dream, a new year is a new start and a new beginning. Take time for yourself, reach out to someone, and enjoy everyday as if it were your last!
