In season two, episode ten, titled “Sleeping Dogs,” Dr. Cooper (“Coop”) asks new nurse Sam why he didn’t become a doctor. Sam, in turn, asks Coop why he didn’t become a nurse. Coop offers a litany of insulting reasons why he is glad to be a doctor and not a nurse, but Sam isn’t bothered by the interaction and even invites Coop to hang out after work.
