Nurse saves physician’s life mid-flight

Maria Giraldo, Nurse Manager at North Shore LIJ Intensive Care Unit and Progressive Care Unit, was en route to a conference on nursing excellence in Salt Lake City, Utah, when a passenger – a physician – collapsed and stopped breathing.

Giraldo, with the help of two other nurses on the plane, was able to revive the physician by performing chest compressions.  The nurses were congratulated upon arrival at the conference.
