Obama creates new presidential commission for the study of bioethical issues

According to the White House website, today President Obama has appointed University of Pennsylvania President Amy Gutmann to serve as Chair and Emory University President James W. Wagner to serve as Vice Chair of a new Commission dedicated to ensuring that the advances in biomedical research and health care are done so in a “responsible manner.”

According to the site:

The Commission will work with the goal of identifying and promoting policies and practices that ensure scientific research, health care delivery, and technological innovation are conducted in an ethically responsible manner. (whitehouse.gov)
