Staying on top of it: a nursing student’s pledge
Here I am, the start of week 2 of 10. I am almost 1/5th of the way through this quarter. Time is flying by and I am trying really hard to stay on top of things to keep from losing my sanity by the end of week four. It’s hard to believe this happens to me four times a year! This is truly the life of the nursing student.
So what am I doing about it? Well, I have syllabi all printed out and whole punched in a binder, highlights on the important parts. I have put due dates into my calendars, both on my phone and on paper. I’ve done a lot of thinking about how efficient I could be… but I haven’t quite gotten around to the actual work part of it yet. I’m not quite in vacation mode still (I’m not entirely sure I was ever in vacation mode this time around). But at the same time, my attention span hasn’t quite reached full-chapter capability mode yet.
I had better get my butt in gear, put my thinking cap on and start reading. I am making a new year’s resolution almost 2 weeks late, but I resolve to stop THINKING about working and to actually start WORKING. There’s got to be some saved brain power in this, and could quite possibly lead to increased free time if I actually plan it out right. But the alternative is so much easier! I’m sitting at home , it’s chilly outside. A nice cup of tea and a good movie sounds way more exciting than getting projects started and summaries finished. I COULD do it, but I resolve to not let senioritis get to me! At least not this early in the game! I have five more months of this ahead of me, I’ve go to put my all into it and go out with a BANG!
I'm a brand new, full-fledged, fresh-out-of-school RN! And better yet, I landed the job of my dreams working with children. I love what I do, and while everyday on the job is a new (and sometimes scary) experience, I'm taking it all in - absorbing everything I can about this amazing profession we all fell in love with.
