We jokingly refer to it as the ‘seasoned’ nurse versus the ‘young’ nurse, but I think it unfortunately is becoming quite the barrier in our profession.
A few years ago I was standing in line for Space Mountain at Disneyland and there was a kid there who was also standing in line with his friends—only unlike my chatty self who gets in faux trouble all the time for talking too much–he was listening to his music, completely ignoring his comrades. What would it be like if we did that at the hospital?
Something was amiss. No one was speaking. Heck, no one was even eating all the treats in the nurse’s station. Instead, everyone’s head was bent intently over desks and little clicking noises could be heard.
Sorry Palm. It was nice for 11 years and I don’t think I ever had a more user-friendly handheld. You just didn’t keep up with the demands that your devoted users were asking for.
