Amazing information- much of which I didn't know about NPs but learned by reading this article. NPs have proven to impact the medical world in all scopes of practice (hospital setting, private practice), and the disparity in schools of thought between medical school and nursing school reveals itself in advanced degree nursing. NPs continue to gain more autonomy in various states and the amount of NP jobs available continues to rise throughout the country as people embrace the title. The advanced degree is an opportunity for RNs to increase their knowledge base and advance their career. Some of the statistics in the article are very interesting and valuable to know. If someobdy was reading this that was waffling back and forth between choosing to go back to school to be an NP, I'm pretty sure this would sway them in the direction of yes. I would say that I have to agree with Juanita in that NPs are an asset to the future of nursing.
