Social media is a great resource to enhance your nursing life, but it can also be an easy way to shoot yourself in your nursing clogs. Here are some top social media blunders for nurses that should be avoided at all costs.

Badmouthing coworkers.
Surprising but true, even charge nurses are making the mistake of getting loose-lipped online. Blogger Rob Cameron has taken note of a charge nurse coworker who posted negative remarks about his manager and unit on Facebook, even stating their names and unit name. It didn’t take long for the gossip to spread and boomerang back. Rob warns, “Just because you think only your friends can see what you post, you will have friends who will show what you posted to others, and eventually that can get back to your employer and put you in a position that may jeopardize your job or, at the very least, the trust your boss has in you.”
