Yummy Rx for aches and pains

Fifty million Americans suffer from chronic pain on a daily basis. With the long-term physical nature of a nurse’s work, chronic pain is an issue that every nurse should work to prevent before it happens. However, if you’re already experiencing aches and pains, there are some delicious way you can ease your discomfort three times a day.

We all know that comfort food feels good, but research shows that relief to pain symptoms can come from certain yummy foods that also happen to be healthy!

What you should know
For nurses who suffer from pain and stiffness in the body and are managing chronic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, the body’s natural inflammatory response is to blame.

“Fats in foods can have the greatest effects on the inflammatory process,” says Charles Friedman, DO, pain management specialist for Pain Relief Centers in Pinellas Park, Fla.
