A day in the life of an ER nurse

If you had to describe in detail the atmosphere of the ER, the first few words that come to mind would probably be something along the lines of “hectic,” “unpredictable” and “a little bit batty.”

But what does a day in the life of an ER nurse really look like? In this week’s episode of “The Katie Duke Show” on ScrubsBeat, Katie runs through a typical day on the job, revealing some helpful tips that any nurse can put to good use along the way.

I LOVE the recess bag idea. I work Oncology, we had a code blue and of course as soon as we start to administer medications the IV blew. We spent way too much time running around grabbing IV supplies (which are located on the other end of the unit). Luckily, CPR/AED got our patient through. I am going to bring up the idea to my manager about putting a recess bag in our crash cart. What a great idea for us! Thank you!!
