How to turn your weird hours into travel bargains


Take advantage of your “weekend” being in the middle of the week

As nurses know, unless you’re lucky enough to have a Monday-to-Friday job, weekends are not easy to get off work. If that’s the case, how about taking advantage of the odd schedule? Your “weekends” away don’t have to be Friday, Saturday and Sunday. How about going away Sunday through Tuesday or Monday through Wednesday? Traditionally, these are slower times in tourist areas that are famous for weekend getaways, like Las Vegas.

If you have children, you may be able to work this into a family event if you can arrange it around days off school. Go through their school calendar to see if there are any weeks when you have a Monday and Tuesday off. If you do, there’s the perfect opportunity for you to take off.
