What is the most beautiful hospital in the U.S.?

For the past four years, Soliant Health has hosted a contest to put together a list of the Top 20 Most Beautiful Hospitals in the U.S. Votes come in from all over the country and are tallied up to determine the final order. And this is no small time project — almost 170,000 people around the country had their say in last year’s contest.

One of the most intriguing things about the list is the variety of the hospitals that make the cut. Appropriately, the Phoenix Children’s Hospital is lit up with bright, colorful LED lights, while others on the list are sleek and modern like the UC San Diego Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center in La Jolla, Calif.

Others make the list in part for their structure, and in part for their environment. For example, the Sky Ridge Medical Center stands strikingly alone in the midst of a vast prairie in Lone Tree, Colo.
