Is it possible to work full-time while getting your NP degree? | iStockphoto | ThinkStock + Scrubs | iStockphoto | ThinkStock + Scrubs

Balancing a full-time workload while going back to school to become a nurse practitioner is difficult enough…without considering all of the (many, many!) questions that decision raises!

A few to consider:

Should I go back to school part-time?
Should I go to school part-time and work full-time?
Will taking an online course make work and school possible?
Will I ever see my family during the time I’m earning my degree?

But what any nurse knows – particularly any nurse who’s already gone back to school while working – is that there is no general answer to any of these questions. It all depends on your life situation, your work situation, how you can balance your workload and the nursing program options that are available to you.

We hope our Nurse’s Guide to Nursing School can help you learn more about what each nursing program offers. We’d also love to open up the comments of this article to both nurses thinking about going back to school and to those that have already been through the fire. What have you learned? What you would do differently? Let us know below!
