Lost on the Frontlines
COVID-19 has taken a devastating toll, claiming the lives of more than 400,000 Americans â and over 3,000 of them were healthcare professionals.
The prevalence of COVID-19 is 2,747 cases per 100,000 for frontlines healthcare workers compared with 242 per 100,000 people in the general community.
When passion and skill meet exhaustion, fear, and frustration, something stirs â something that frontlines workers have displayed time and time again since day 1 of the pandemic.
That âsomethingâ is pure grit.
Itâs knowing theyâre at risk, and working anyway. Itâs pausing self-care to care for another. Itâs neglecting their health to restore someone elseâs. And sometimes, itâs losing their own life after fighting to save others.
We honor those on the frontlines who have lost their lives to COVID-19. Pushing through exhaustion, ignoring fear, and keeping hope alive with uncompromising grit, frontlines workers are true heroes.
We are forever in the debt of those who have worked to save lives at the cost of their own.
